Mrs. Jocelyn Houben
Mrs. Houben is joining our team with over seventeen years of early childhood education experience. With Montessori and both clinical and classroom IBI (Intensive Behavioural Intervention) experience, she will be a great asset to our program. Mrs. Houben has a true passion for contributing positively to the lives of children and believes that an educator’s duty is to bring out a child’s “best self”. She invests in each relationship and follows the child’s lead.
Mrs. Houben believes that children will succeed when they feel loved, safe, and happy. “One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child” – Maria Montessori. It is Mrs. Houben’s goal to provide an enriching and intentional environment in which children will be confident, valued, and fulfilled.
When Mrs. Houben is not at school, she leads an active lifestyle with her husband and two daughters, Londyn and Nolyn. As a family they enjoy spending time with extended family, and activities such as mountain biking, camping, beach volleyball, and basketball. Before having a family, personal highlights include achieving the All Canadian award for Basketball in the CCAA (Fanshawe College) and playing on the Canadian Women’s Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. She still enjoys actively playing all sports.
